On May 24th, the new version 3.7 of “Genshin Impact” titled “Battle! Summit of Summoners” is set to launch!
Today, I plan to dive into the game’s maps, storyline, and characters (including popular internet trends) to take you through the content of the 1.0 version.
This big-picture overview will be divided into three parts, so please look forward to the subsequent chapters!

1.0
Meeting Tiavat
Launch Date: September 28, 2020
Upon entering the game as a foreigner to Tiavat, players are presented with an “heroic rescue” scenario – saving the drowning Paimon from the sea.
This version introduced two initial maps, “Mondstadt” and “Liyue,” and opened up the first chapters of the Mondstadt main storyline and the second chapters of the Liyue main storyline. The overall puzzle difficulty was relatively low.
The launch featured four-star characters including Xiangling, Lei Zeng, Aether, Fischl, Bai Shuihui, and Noel, alongside five five-star characters.
According to data, the most frequently used character in the 1.0 version was Xiangling. With her help, players gradually learned to explore the vast world, use the wind wings, and perform elemental reactions.
A quick note! At the game’s launch, the role PV “Four Winds” featuring Wen Di created a popular internet meme, “Please do something useful, Brontosaurus,” due to Wen Di’s lackadaisical behavior in Mondstadt.

Ryujin’s Mystery
Launch Date: November 11, 2020
On November 11th, the 1.1 version was released. Woohoo!
No new map regions were opened, but the previous version’s Liyue main storyline was completed, with the conclusion revealing Ryujin’s seclusion policy.
Four new characters debuted: Daidalos, Zhongli, Diovan, and Xin Yiren. Two handsome guys, ZhiZhi gives this version a big thumbs up!
(“Give me ten more seconds, Tock!” – who’s teary-eyed? – I won’t say.)

Cretaceous and Black Dragon
Launch Date: December 23, 2020
In the 1.2 version, “Genshin Impact” saw its first map update.
“Pine Ridge Snow Mountain” was introduced, connecting the ruins of Mingyue Town in the northwest of Liyue to the Dadaupaha Valley in the northwest of Mondstadt. It also brought in a new weather system called “Blizzard.”
This frosty update fits the timing perfectly!
Two new characters debuted: Adele and Gan Ning. The storyline mainly revolves around Adele’s legendary quest “Cretaceous Chapter.”

Celebration of the Lantern Festival
Launch Date: February 3, 2021
Though no new map regions were opened in this version, it introduced Liyue’s first major festival – the Lantern Festival (based on the Lantern Festival in the Chinese lunar New Year).
In the game, during the lunar new year, Liyue Port would be adorned with lanterns, and lanterns would be released to welcome the Lantern Festival. NPCs were extra enthusiastic, and the visuals were quite beautiful. However, players were frequently seen “running out of breath.”
In addition to meeting Din’s Slayer in the main storyline, there were also several related events during the festival. After unlocking the legend quest for Xiao, players could begin participating in festival-related activities.
A quick note! The popular internet meme “Did you also play Genshin Impact?” first emerged from the 1.3 version’s pre-release announcement.
